One Shot Film Evaluation

I think our self titled 'One Shot' Narrative was one of my stronger pieces of work this term. We thoroughly planned it from start to finish and we followed our planning very closely. The final piece conveys the feeling of anxiety and fear and paints a clear picture of what is happening wihtout any words being spoken. It allows the audience to cast their own opinions as to why this man is being executed and who he is being executed by. There is a feeling of suspense throughout the film and the shadowy, black and white visual style makes the film seem more real to the audience as if it was a defining moment within a wider narrative. Considering the limitations I think the composition and camera movement is good. We try to keep the shot as cloase as possible to draw attention to the characters emotions but not so close that you cannot get a feel for the situation and surroundings where he is being held.
Overall I think our 'One Shot' film was a success. Our idea was fairly simple and this allowed us to concentrate on smaller details. If I was to attempt this again I would like to get a much higher angle shot towards the end of the film. I think we could have highlighted the characters vulnerability a lot more. If we had included some speech in our film perhaps we could have made the audience think more about what sort of man this character is and why he is being executed. I think the narrative does this to some extent but we could have manipulated the audiences attention towards it more effectively with the characters voice over in a sort of self reflective way similar to films such as american beauty where the narrator is already dead when he is reflecting on his own actions.
