I found this animation software the other day, apparently it's already quite popular. It lets you import any static portrait image of someones face (could even be an animal or a character you have designed) and map the points around their facial features. You can then add audio files and it will automatically pick up the pheonetics of the speech and lipsync the character. Alternatively you can just type a script within the interface and it will lipsyn to that. You can also make detailed facial movements and expressions and it moves like a character that has been modelled in 3D software.
These recordings can be edited on it's own timeline and exported as a video clip. I reckon you could create some really good content for the web using CrazyTalk and flash. There's a free 15 day trial available, so when I have some time I plan to experiment with it and hopefully post some files.
